Tree Work Ahead Roll-Up Traffic Sign - RUS-XP-TWA-VAR

This Tree Work Ahead construction sign is made in the USA, with heavy duty reinforced plastic pockets. TREE WORK AHEAD durable printed legend can withstand a variety of harsh chemicals and cleaners, which allows graffiti, dirt, and grime to be removed from the sign without damaging the print. These road construction signs also feature convenient labeling that can easily be read or understood when folded or rolled up - no more unrolling a sign just to figure out which one it is. We currently have our roll up signs available in fluorescent orange, with reflective or non-reflective material.

The 4-pocket style road work sign comes in two pieces - sign and crossbrace. Sign is deployed by inserting each end of the crossbrace into the pockets on each corner of the sign.

We proudly make all our signs inhouse. Production time is 2 to 3 days. Call us if expedited service is needed.

Should I get mesh, vinyl, or reflective?

Pick by two things: wind and light. Mesh is an open weave that lets gusts blow straight through, so it stays planted on an open highway or a windy shoulder where a solid sign would sail over. Solid non-reflective vinyl is the budget option, but it's daytime-only; it isn't MUTCD compliant once the sun goes down. If your crew ever works at night, at dawn, at dusk, or in a tunnel, you need reflective vinyl, which is compliant around the clock. When in doubt, reflective covers the most situations.

Do I need the 36" or the 48" sign?

It comes down to how fast traffic is moving. The 36" x 36" is the standard for city streets, parking lots, and lower-speed roads, roughly 45 mph and under. The 48" x 48" is what most states require on freeways, expressways, and divided highways with a barrier or median because the faster a driver is going, the sooner they need to read the sign. On a fast road or a state right-of-way, check your local work-zone spec, but 48" is the safe default there.

Does the sign come with a stand?

The sign ships with the spring-steel ribs sewn in, so it snaps open into a rigid diamond and rolls back down flat for the truck, but it still needs a sign stand to hold it up at the roadside. Stands are sold separately on purpose, so you can match the stand to your setup and swap a whole set of signs onto one stand. You'll find our roll-up sign stands here.

What does "MUTCD compliant" actually mean on a roll-up sign?

It means the sign face meets the federal standard: the right fluorescent orange, the correct legend, and, on the reflective versions, sheeting bright enough for nighttime use. One thing worth knowing: MUTCD covers the sign itself, while crashworthiness ratings like NCHRP-350 and MASH apply to the stand that holds it, not the sign face. So, a compliant sign on the right compliant stand is what actually keeps a work zone by the book.

Can I get a legend that isn't on your list?

Yes. If you don't see your wording, we'll print it. A custom legend costs the same per sign as a stock one, plus a one-time $45 setup fee. We'll email you a proof for approval before anything goes to print.
